2003 Scholarship RecipientAnne "Maggie" Murphy Back to view all H.A.S. Scholarship Recipients We are pleased to announce that Anne “Maggie” Murphy is the recipient of this year’s scholarship award. Maggie exemplifies what one can accomplish with a “be all that you can be” attitude. She assumed leadership roles in high school from the beginning and never slowed down: Freshman Class Vice President, Junior Class Secretary, National Honor Secretary, Peer Leadership program, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp. She also demonstrated a strong dedication to the community through volunteer work at the Mable Kay House and with the Bancroft School’s Possibility Players as well as through various Interact and National Honor Society community service activities. In addition to earning the respect and admiration of her peers and of those to whom she is a mentor, Maggie re-ceived numerous awards and scholarships at the close of her senior year. Maggie will attend George Washington University in Washington, DC this fall. Her undeclared major is Inter-national Affairs, but things are always “subject to change”. Her dream is to hold a high national elected office, but she is also intrigued with the possibilities of serving as a U.S. Ambassador , joining the Peace Corps, becoming a physician and serving Doctors Without Borders, or maybe being in the FBI or CIA. We say, “Don’t settle for less than the Presidency, Ms. Maggie.” And if you get there we might just throw a parade down King’s Highway for ya. |
